Final countdown to the Shamrock
We’re approaching the final countdown to the big event and the latest forecast calls for sunshine! Let’s hope that prediction holds. I think we’re all ready for Spring to be here.
Everyone should have their packets. If you don’t please contact me.
If you’re wondering how to get to the race and where to park, there are some great pointers on the Shamrock Run site.
One convenient spot to park is the parking lot near the East Bank Esplanade just North of the Hawthorne bridge. There is easy access to the bike path that runs along the Willamette River and across the bridge to the Waterfront Park. On I-5 from the South, take the OMSI exit, turn right at the stop sign and drive 3 blocks. There is typically more space for parking and the short walk is a good warm up.
If anyone is interested in car pooling to the event, please email me and I’ll connect you with other participants in your area. I’ll be driving in from Wilsonville and can pick up any North-bound runners in front of the Costco at the North Wilsonville exit.
Plan to get there with enough time to find parking, walk to the waterfront and wade through the throngs of people to get to the starting line. We’re planning to meet at the USS Oregon Memorial throughout the event, but we may not be able to all be in one place at the same time. It is guaranteed to be crowded, and the more time you have to get oriented the better. Please send me your photos and I’ll post them here on the site.
